Guess Again by Mac Barnett

Guess Again! Guess Again! by Mac Barnett

This is such a funny book! I love unexpected, random books and I'm finding that Barnett writes this style very well! Parents will enjoy reading this one to their kids. Grades K-5

What a Wild Rumpus!

Our Wild Things party was a blast! I just wanted to thank all of you who came and made it possible! The Marion Star took some fabulous pictures. You can view them here. We have also posted some photos in the photo album on our website.

Clementine, The Talented Clementine, by Sara Pennypacker

Okay, so these are fairly old titles, but I have just finished listening to both audio books and let me tell you, HILARIOUS! Clementine is the funniest character I have come across since Ramona. She is such a smart little girl...always thinking and trying to figure out stuff, "Okay fine..." she is quite the ornery little girl. She is always getting herself into odd situations...for example, in the first book, within the first few chapters, she "helps" a classmate cut her hair. I laughed hysterically as I listened to these two books on CD and am starting Clementine's Letter this evening!

Read to Me: Raising kids who love to read by Bernice E. Cullinan

This is an interesting look at raising kids as readers. What I like about this title, is the "tips for busy parents" sections. It has some great games/activities parents can do with their children if they are pressed for time. For example, one that I found exciting and am eager to try is the tip to write messages to your kids. Leaving notes/poems in your childs lunch box or coat pocket are an interesting way to build their literacy skills.
