With tons of humor, Jennifer Holm tells the story of a girl growing up during the depression who keeps a positive outlook on life despite the terrible situations around. Funny and uplifting!

Hugo spies a red string and proceeds to follow all through the town meeting new people as he goes. You'll never believe what he finds at the end!

Several new books have been published within the last couple years about string. This would be a fun book/theme to do a library program for children. (This book, string storytelling, string craft...the possibilities are endless!)
