Turtle In Paradise by Jennifer Holm

Turtle in ParadiseTurtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

11 year old Turtle moves to Key West to stay with relatives she doesn't even know so her mom can take a job in New Jersey. Her trip to Florida proves to be an eye-opening experience for the tough, little girl who wishes her life were a little more like Little Orphan Annie's. With tons of humor, Jennifer Holm tells the story of a girl growing up during the depression who keeps a positive outlook on life despite the terrible situations around. Funny and uplifting!

Hugo and the Really, Really, Really Long String

Hugo and the Really, Really, Really Long String (Picture Book) Hugo and the Really, Really, Really Long String by Bob Boyle

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Hugo spies a red string and proceeds to follow all through the town meeting new people as he goes. You'll never believe what he finds at the end!

Several new books have been published within the last couple years about string. This would be a fun book/theme to do a library program for children. (This book, string storytelling, string craft...the possibilities are endless!)

Rasberries by Jay O'Callahan

Raspberries! Raspberries! by Jay O'Callahan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
At first glance, this is a strange book with an odd theme. However, upon listening to the author read it on the enclosed CD, I loved it. It's the story of a baker who loses his passion for baking and moves away and becomes an egg seller. A long ago friend gives him "special raspberries" to plant. Will the baker rekindle his love of baking? Read on, or listen to the author narrated CD, to find out!
